Blue and White Fabric

Samples from Truro Fabrics
I liked the blue and white floral fabrics used in Burda's May issue, though I don't think I will actually use those particular patterns.  So I picked up the phone and called Truro Fabrics.  I explained to a lady in the dress department what I was after, referencing the May Burda issue.  A couple of days later all these lovely samples arrived in the post, free of charge.  I live in the London suburbs on the tube line, but actually getting into town is a mission.  So this sort of online and over the phone shopping really suits me.  Truro Fabrics is the best single, fabric store I have been to in the UK.  For me it would be worth a holiday in Cornwall just to have a browse around.  Alas, my husband has noticed that it rains an awful lot in Cornwall.  Unlike in his childhood, when every summer was blazing hot and they played cricket on the beach for hours, of course!

You haven't heard much from me because I am busy sewing ballet costumes and Irish dance costumes for my two girls.  I also have a baby-quilt on the go for my sister's first born due in August.  Basically, I am surrounded by UFOs and bits of fabric and notions and need to get the dining room looking like a dining asap because the first set of house guests are arriving on Thursday!  There are a lot of other chores on at the moment as well with school wrapping up and the summer holiday hurtling towards us.  Is anyone else managing to get much summer sewing done?  I almost wonder if I should give up on summer sewing now and look towards Autumn!
