My MANy Bags News #314

Below: Who attended the Club 21b + Tsumori Chisato Party last night? I had loads of fun! Here's the pics to prove it!

Below: A surprise catwalk presentation by Club 21b... and male models to drool! Love this asian model who is the cutest guy of last evening:-P

Club 21b + Tsumori Chisato Opening Cocktail Party: 25 March 2011

For those of you who attended the Club 21b + Tsumori Chisato Opening Cocktail Party last night, I am sure all of you had loads of fun with all the booze, canapés and lots of fashion to drool!

There is simply so much to take in last night. A well attended event with many guests arriving in full fashion glory, ready to celebrate 2 new retail destinations in Singapore. Tsumori Chisato also organised a spectacular 20th year retrospective exhibition showcasing some of Ms Chisato's most representative work of her career. I love her whimsical use of colours, textures and lots of unexpected themes. Can you imagine a knit top inspired by Piano keys? It's outrageous, but only the Japanese can make it so right!!!

Below: Tsumori Chisato 20th Anniversary Retrospective exhibition is not to be missed! Drop by Forum, The Shopping Mall to see Ms Chisato's whimsical and creative works over the span of her career...

The highlight of the evening however has to be the surprise staging of a catwalk presentation for Club 21b's very avant-garde selection of fashion brands. From Acne to Opening Ceremony to Oliver Theysken's Theory (and many more)... each model struts down the make shift runway around the stores, screaming 'ferocious'! I love this cute Asian hunk of a model's outfit with drapey silhouettes and his 'shopper bag'(See my post on 'Grocery Shopping' style bags) and the coolest haircut ever! There is also a pair of Opening Ceremony ethnic print shorts which beckons me to bring home!

I am happy Club 21b has now expanded to a seperate mens and womens store... so much to choose, so little budget... sob sob.

Check out my facebook fanpage for more pics from last night's events. (Click here) And also some of my coveted fashion pieces which I spotted last night! Do remember to 'LIKE' my fan page if you enjoy reading this post:-)

See you all at the next party!

(Club 21b is located at Unit #01-07, Forum Shopping Mall, while Tsumori Chisato is nearby at Unit #01-31)

My Shopping Conquest #115

Below: Shopping in Tokyo! I got something from Tsumori Chisato Mens from their store in Aoyama:-) Singapore will soon get our own standalone boutique in Jan 2011! Rejoice!

Below: This was what I got... Tsumori Chisato Pre-spring 2011 Flower Appliqué Shirt... A huge 'painted' flower appliqué on the chest for some flair and flamboyance:-)

Below: What got me more interested are the subtle red stripe jersey lining under the collar...

Below: and end of the placket of the shirt... which peeks thru subtly when unbuttoned at neck or left untucked into pants...

Below: Mandatory myMANybags dressing room shot! I am trying out the shirt. Fits like a glove, Tokyo stocks Asian sizing:-) See how the red stripes peek out at the shirt ends...

Below: Wearing the shirt on its own... the flower print is cute!

Below: Angled view... I am sold with the red stripe detailing:-)

Below: What I wore that day... My 'newly bought in Tokyo' Tweed Blazer from Gap (Who would have thought Gap looked fab in Tokyo!), 'Brad' Denim Shirt from D&G, Dior Homme Jeans, Balmain Metal Loops Belt, Zara Military Boots (Finally my chance to do the 'tuck in' boots look! Yay!)...

Below: Spot the shirt inside the Tsumori Chisato store, Tokyo-Aoyama... See how it was matched with 'drop crotch' pants. Love the store decor. Simple and wooden rustic... hope our upcoming Singapore store by Club 21 shares the same interior details! Most importantly, stock some great merchandise such as the Aoyama store:-) Cruise 2011 Mens looked fab...

Below: Professional pics of the shirt without my 'yellow tinted' lighting at time of photography at the store...

Tsumori Chisato Pre Spring 2011 Flower Appliqué Shirt

December is indeed a month where I bled out my bank account! Having a visit to Tokyo is very bad news to my wallet. When you are in Tokyo, especially posh Aoyama... Shopping is inevitable with so many temptations waiting for you in every corner.

I did not want to buy overpriced international brands, hence the local Japanese brands are a must-see. Of course, I subcumbed to the calling of the shops... much to disappointment of my fast-crumbling resolve not to! How can one resist?!?!

One of the shopping conquests I had while wandering Aoyama in Tokyo was this Tsumori Chisato Pre-Spring 2011 Flower Appliqué Shirt. I stumbled upon this shirt on the mannequin in the store, but was not paying attention to it until I was about to leave. The cute Japanese sales guy was wearing the shirt, but contrasted it with a pair of Khaki harem pants and a pair of combat boots. This is 'living' fashion inspiration! A refreshing take on something 'feminine' against something tough. I love the look and hence, made a u turn back to the men's section to try the shirt. The sizing was petite and perfect... I just had to get it.

Besides the flower print on the chest, I also adore the red stripe jersey lining inside the collar and along the ends of the placket of the shirt. Little details go a long way! When worn untucked, the red stripes peeked out from the shirt ends and collar, adding a subtle but outstanding spot of colour and interest.

The new selections for Tsumori Chisato mens looked really promising at the Aoyama store. I wonder when the standalone store in Singapore's Forum Shopping Mall (by Club 21 Global) opens in Jan 2011, will we get an equally good selection as well? I hope so! Tsumori Chisato standalone boutique is poised to open at Forum Shopping Mall (from what I heard so far)... will share more details when I have them.

Here's some pics (see above) from my dressing room try out... I got the shirt and love it. Flower prints appeared in quite a few men's runway (Jil Sander is one!)...so this shirt should serve me well in the coming summer months!

The Runway Sniper #68

Below: Tsumori Chisato Fall Winter 2010 Womens Collection is eclectic, ethnic and simply eccentric with unexpected details. Love this dress... do you notice the goat motif that becomes part of the fringe detail? Shimmery and colourful...

Tsumori Chisato Fall Winter 2010 Womenswear

Overdosed on severe minimalist looks running rampant in the fashion world now? Want something less uptight and more uplifting? Then count on Tsumori Chisato for highly imaginative and individual womenswear, that often has a hint of japanese 'kawaii (cuteness)' while breaking away from the austerity of other big brand names.

This fall winter 2010 season, look toward the far east to the world of gypsies, persian carpets, desert nomads and turkish empires for what the designer termed a 'pop ethnic' collection.
Loomy cotton white dress with the accent of black and white patterns are imaged from nomadic tents, while turkish military-like beige poncho and shiny black velvet jacket with gold spangles are coordinated with colourful paisley print for a mad mix of far eastern influences.

There is an unrestrained expression of imagination in the clothes as seen in the vivid patterns and colours. That dress with the goat motif extended as fringes is amazingly surreal. Just as eye catching are those 'optically challenging' tights with contrasting shimmer and colourful graphics that gives Pucci a run for its money.

Fun accessories such as flatshoes with tent motif and magical lamp shaped necklace also add to the designer's concept of pop blended with ethnic influences. Under all that fashion 'bric and brac', there lies the eccentricities of manga, adventure and undisputed crazy mix-up style only a Japanese designer fathom. Not every women wants to dress monochromatic and 'clinically cleansed' of details. Tsumori Chisato's Fall Winter collection caters to ladies who wants that opposite.

Tsumori Chisato can be found in Blackjack, Forum Shopping Mall in Singapore. (Menswear is also stocked here). Good news awaits fans of this manga meets high fashion brand:-P So stay tuned!

Below: And look what I got from Tsumori Chisato during the recent Club 21 sale... a cute bowtie with shimmery silver spots:-) Love it! Can't wait to wear it to events for some nerdy cute chic!:-P
