My Bag Collection #64

Below: Zara shopping find... a gem discovered:-) Meet my new murse... Zara's Python Print Leather Clutch...

Below: Simple and clean design with a large enough size for the guys... Thanks to Kwannam for alerting me to this fab bag on his blog post...
Zara Fall Winter 2011 Yellow Python Print Leather Clutch

Thanks to fellow clutch enthusiast, Kwannam from 'We Could Grow Up Together'... I was made aware of the existence of this Zara Yellow Python Print Leather Clutch from their new Fall Winter 2011 collection. It seems all's fated... as the clutch arrived in Singapore's Zara stores just this Friday... in time for me to get wooed over by Kwannam's blog post. Perfect timing? I reckon so.

This clutch measures 39cm(w) x 24cm(h) with a generous depth of 4.2cm. That means, you can put in quite a fair bit even though this is a clutch bag. Made for women (ladies, there's a gold metal shoulder chain to transform this into a shoulder bag)... but the simple design devoid of frivolous details allows it to be man friendly. I love the size and shape, hence I got it today.

Retailing for SGD259... there's no reason not to. From the convincing python print and savvy yellow colour on 100% real leather to the surprisingly good workmanship and functional size, it's a darn good shopping find.

Below: The clutch is much larger than my Pierre Hardy Cube Print Clutch...

H&M Singapore Opening Party Last Evening (2 September 2011)

The most anticipated store opening in Singapore is here! H&M is finally opening its doors to welcome Singapore fans today, 3 Sep 2011. An opening party was held last evening for VIP guests and celebrities to hype up the occasion. I was privileged to be invited with all my fellow blogger friends (u know who you are, too many to name!) for a preview of the store and some shopping:-P

Spanning 3 floors of massive retail space, this is a one stop for every fashion needs, from kids to accessories to menswear and womenswear. Love it!

I found many fabulous pieces last evening. Top of my list are the shirts with contrast collars. I got one blue/red/white (very french chic) with contrast white collar for just S$17.90 (unbelievable but true!). And tried on a contrast sleeve navy blazer which I adore (S$159). There are also tartan print contrast sleeve blazers which come in green and blue. However, my best buy has to be this woven leather/grosgrain ribbon belt (made in Italy), very Lanvin-ish fr only $24.90. Go check them out!

These prices are crazy. You can unknowingly shop till bank account burnout because everything is so affordable and desirable.

Below: Get ready for Burberry Body... a new fragrance from Burberry! Launching globally today...

Below: Rosie Huntington-Whiteley is starring in the provocative and sexy campaign celebrating sensuality and confidence...

Burberry Launches Burberry Body Today!

You have seen the provocative advertising campaign featuring the sexy British actress/model Rosie Huntington-Whiteley. And you have been wanting to experience the fragrance and adding another facet of Burberry into your lifestyle... The wait is finally over...

Today, 1st September marks the launch day for Burberry Body: Burberry’s most most sensual and feminine fragrance with notes of rose and iris combined with woody top notes to create an an unmistakably British scent.

“We have been working on this for a few years now. Burberry Body for us is so much more than a fragrance; it is the biggest launch we have ever done, one that captures all the modernity and heritage of this British brand today, reflecting all the facets that make up the Burberry world. We wanted to create something iconic, unique and special – placing the attitude and energy of the trench coat at the centre – connecting everything we do from music, collections, touch, scent, our stores, online platforms and communities. We are uniting all our audiences and giving them a very distinctive point of view.”

And choosing Rosie Huntington-Whiteley was a wise and natural choice for the British luxury brand, as Christopher Bailey explains:

“Rosie is this beautiful, sensual English rose and perfectly captures the spirit of Burberry. She has this perfect balance of sensuality and confidence with humility. Burberry is part of her history and it felt perfectly natural for her to be our first Burberry Body.”

Burberry Body extends beyond fragrance and includes Eau de Parfum, Eau de Parfum Intense, Body Milk and Body Oil. Make your way down to any Burberry beauty counter at your nearest departmental store to sample this fresh scent debut.

(As part of the global Burberry Body launch, a new capsule Nude collection also debuts worldwide today. Check out the pics here!)

Below: It's time to don some fur, 3.1 Phillip Lim style! Lynus Double Wrap Fur Bracelet adds some luxe appeal to your wrist:-)

Below: Or let Lynus Fur Key Ring enhance your bag's Fall Winter luxe appeal! Love the lapis colour (blue)...

3.1 Phillip Lim Lynus Fur Key Ring And Double Wrap Bracelets

Fall Winter 2011 is the season for all things furry. Fur accents are everywhere on ready-to-wear, accessories and bags. To stay on top of 2011 winter trends, it is imperative you need to don some fur these cooler months. I choose to accessorise instead of wearing fur all over myself, to spare me certain death by heat stroke in humid Singapore. So bag charms and accessories will be my foray into the fur frenzy for this FW2011.

If Céline's fox tail key ring prove to be too overwhelming (either your conscience strikes and empathy sets in for our furry friends due to actual fox fur fabrication or the pricing being too steep?), then I think I can offer a perfect alternative to your furry shopping hunt. Introducing 3.1 Phillip Lim's Lynus Fur Key Ring in 3 colours (Lapis, Absinthe and black). These little rabbit fur accessory (length of 8.5cm) can hang outside your precious bags and transform your bags from mundane to luxe winter. And no worries about breaking the bank for these little sweet furries, they cost a mere US$75 and should be easily afforded by anyone!

If bag accessory is not your cup of tea, then go for 3.1 Phillip Lim's Lynus Fur Double Wrap bracelets to accent your wrist. The luxurious fur will bring a new sense of sophistication to your style. Comes in lovely Black/red, Black, and Black/Absinthe combinations so you have no excuse for not being spoilt for choices. Again, at only US$125, it's not to be missed.

Get yours from Shopbop today!

Now for the bad news... unfortunately, due to the real rabbit fur fabrication, these accessories cannot be shipped outside of USA. Better befriend your US friends right now. These are times when friendships do count:-P

Below: The most anticipated store opening in Singapore for 2011... H&M will finally be here on 3 Sep 2011!

H&M Opens In Singapore 3 Sep 2011!

The most anticipated store opening of 2011... H&M's first Singapore Flagship store will open in Orchard Building this coming 3 Sep 2011. Expect a massive 30,000 square feet space of retail heaven that spans across three levels with fashion and accessories for everyone.

“We are happy to finally open our first store in Singapore. This opening marks H&M’s first step into Southeast Asia and we see great potential for expansion in this fashion conscious region,” says Karl-Johan Persson, CEO at H&M.

“Fashion is global, and so is H&M. I’m highly confident that our fashion will be appreciated in Singapore. I’m particularly fond of our autumn collection because it’s so easy to wear, so grown up yet totally of the moment and with such great fashion attitude,” says Ann Sofie Johansson, Head of design at H&M.

Look out for H&M's Autumn 2011 collection which is about a season of cool confidence in distinguished and well composed browns, camel, burgundies and cream. 70’s style influence is essential with longer lengths and wide trousers that look great with chic blouses and comfy knits. Perfect leather accessories and a quirky hat complete the look. And to make things even more exciting, it means Singapore H&M fans will also get to shop Versace's collaboration collection for H&M come November too.

H&M’s first step into Asia was in Hong Kong and China 2007, followed by Japan 2008 and South Korea 2010. After years of anticipation, the fashion retail giant lands their presence in Singapore this year.

Below: Look razor sharp with these new McQ Fall Winter 2011 jewellery collection... I need these leather double wrap bracelets with razor blade shaped hardware:-P

Below: Dog tag like Razor Blade necklaces are equally cool...

McQ Fall Winter 2011 'Razor Blade' Jewellery

Now we all have no excuse not to look razor sharp this coming Fall Winter 2011. Check out these ultra cool bracelets and necklaces from McQ's Fall Winter 2011 collection! For the first time, McQ is offering a jewellery range in addition to their very avant garde ready to wear pieces. This first jewellery collection (though meant for women, boys can wear them too!) sees dominant inspiration by the most mundane of dangerous objects, think razor blades and safety pins... given a distinctive bad-boy McQueen spin, turning them into menacing but interesting accessories.

I want everything... love the razor blade shaped hardware that will get you that 'don't mess with me' attitude and envious glances:-)

Below: Balenciaga Fall Winter 2011 Ad Campaign...my favourite for the season...

(Click on pics to enlarge for better view)

Balenciaga Fall Winter 2011 Ad Campaign

I love the new Balenciaga Fall Winter 2011 Ad Campaign. The photoshoot captures the idea of contrast for the collection. While play in proportion and textures are a focal point for the ready to wear, the print imagery plays on contrast of patterns, colours and the setting of old vs. new.

Clinical white tiles opposing dark, morbid archways... dark against light, colours vs. monotones. The images embody a certain intrinsic artistic quality associated with the Balenciaga DNA, just like how Nicholas Ghesquière sculpt his creations.

Brilliant job, my favourite campaign for the season.

(The campaign is shot by Steven Meisel and starr models Liya Kebede, Milou Van Groesen, Carla Gebhart, Juliane Grüner and Liisa Winkler.)

My MANy Bags Trendspotting #183

Below: Hermés Twilly as a bracelet... the most affordable Hermès accessory you can own!
Hermés Twilly As A Bracelet

Have you ever loved the appeal of an Hermés bracelet(the likes of Collier De Chien, Kelly Double Tour and The Rivale) but found the pricing way out of reach? Well, with a little bit of imagination and creativity, you can enjoy some of that Hermés charm on your wrist and yet do not have to cost you an arm or leg.

Hermés Twilly to the rescue. Twilly is one of the most versatile and multi-functional accessory in the Hermés arsenal. Typically used to decorate or protect the leather handles of those precious birkins, however its usage extend way beyond. This little fine piece of silk can be worn as a scarf, folded as pocket square or even double up as a bracelet. It's the most affordable entry level Hermés that anyone could own. Just check out the pic above. This lady has successfully decorated her wrist and added that Hermés sophistication with a little twilly magic. Love the pink and Kelly strap pattern on her Trés Kelly Twilly. With so many Twilly designs to choose from, you can literally wear a different Hermés bracelet everyday!

I love the idea of Twilly as a bracelet. Simple but yet elegant and sophisticated. Even boys can adopt the look if you choose more sombre and neutral colours. I usually prefer smaller patterns as they wrap around better on smaller surfaces such as the wrist. Do not be afraid to play with bold colours too. You'd be surprise how bright hues can create a different look altogether. The possibilities are simply limitless. To add icing to the cake, opt for some Twilly Bijoux such as the medor metal square studs for some bling bling hardware to give CDCs a run for their money:-)

What are you waiting for, at SGD230... the Hermés dream is not that far fetch after all.

Below: Let's check out the new Winter 2011 bags from Céline! Of course, I love all the leather cabas!

Below: New season, new Luggage totes!

Céline Winter 2011 Bags

I am always anticipating Céline's new season launches... we have seen what Fall 2011 will bring. Now it is time to let our hearts start pounding faster for their Winter 2011 collection!

Once again, being a huge fan of Céline's leather cabas... I am immediately drawn to a new variants for this new collection. This time, my vote goes to the Céline's Black Gusset Cabas Mesh (which reminds me of racing cars) with its sexy black leather and traffic-stopping orange interiors. The zipped gusset mesh on the sides is interesting (like materials of racing gloves) and definitely the perfect bag for Singapore's F1 Night Race this September. Get set, ready, go... must grab!

Forest green colour and suede materials are also some of the new updates for my favourite cabas. Orange is the dominant colour for this Winter collection, often juxtapose with a basic tone to accent an unexpected pop of colour.

As for the ever popular Luggage Totes... indisputably, their new cousin, the Luggage Phantom steals the spotlight for Fall Winter 2011 season. I am already a fan of the grey version with fluro orange coloured piping, another ingenious way to introduce those bright orange tones. But if I were to pick a favourite, I'd choose the very 'huggable and furry' Cream Shearling Mini Luggage. It's a design which looked like your adorable teddy bear turned into a bag. How can you resist not bringing it home?:-P

Below: Fall 2011 sees lots of red based colours for my favourite Céline Leather Cabas! Fluro Orange in python looking fabulous...

Below: or red and khaki colours in smooth lambskin...
Below: or royal blue with burgundy tones... I love them all!
Below: Check out the red python bi-colour version as well! There's also some rubberised material in 'cloudy' colours which I am not too sure... kinda looking a bit cheap...

Céline Fall 2011 Leather Cabas

They say an apple a day keeps the doctors away... well for me it's a Céline Leather Cabas (or more) every 180 days (a season:-P) keeps those shopping blues away...

That's exactly what I planned to do, since I have officially declared myself a Céline Leather Cabas addict.

For Fall 2011, Phoebe Philo seems obsessed with crimson colours... from fluorescent orange in python to primary red against khaki to Royal blue with Burgundy. Red based colours are taking centre stage for these pre-fall season beauties.

I have already set my sights on the bi-colour lambskin cabas in Primary Red and Khaki. Simply stunning, but with just enough of a neutral Khaki tone to ground it down. It's mine, it's mine!

Below: Mulberry unveils an enchanting fantasy filled Advertising Campaign for Fall Winter 2011...

Mulberry Fall Winter 2011 Ad Campaign

Ooooh, I love the new Fall Winter 2011 Advertising Campaign by Mulberry. These beautiful ad imagery bring a sense of surreal fantasy, of those enchanting Enid Blyton stories I read as a child. The whimsical setting of a debilitated English Manor surrounded by oversized birds, owls and foxes also add another layer of story telling for the Mulberry's FW2011 collection concept.

Besides being captivated by the still images as shot by acclaimed photographer Tim Walker (and starring models Tatiana Cotliar and Julia Saner), the campaign video is equally a visual treat and I highly recommend all Mulberry fans to watch it.

Tim Walker’s distinctive style, which plays with proportion to blur the edges of reality, was inspiration for the crew that created the still imagery and also this 52-second short film, now showing on Mulberry.com.

The video features some innovative visual effects by Framestore which is fascinating. The director starts by recording swooping video camera moves of the environment. Using blue-screen technology, they then separated some of the props from the main set, allowing them to create a series of overlaying sequences to complement the rich visual texture. By using a 3D tracking process, Framestore worked these extra assets into the filmed shots, creating a fantastical and innovative combination of the 2D cut-out animations and a live 3D environment. The unique finished film captures the mood of Tim Walker’s luxury-meets-fantasy perfectly, taking the viewer on a magical journey into Mulberry's darkly beautiful new season.

Watch it here!

My Bag Collection #63

Below: Another new bag for Spring Summer 2011... Mihara Yasuhiro's 'Grunge' Birkin makes it to
my bag collection. Love it!

Below: Details that resembles the read deal (Hermès Birkins)... but with a unique feature in the form of hand cut extension flaps on the front and back. An unfinished appeal that gave this Mihara Yasuhiro bag it's personality:-)
Below: I debut the bag today... amidst stares along Orchard Road:-P Fun experience. Love the size of the bag too.
Mihara Yasuhiro 'Grunge' Birkin In Brown

Japanese designer, Mihara Yasuhiro's twisted take on the legendary Hermés Birkin is one of the most controversial (if not most interesting and fun) bag to be had this Spring Summer 2011. Behold, Mihara Yasuhiro's 'Grunge' Birkin, a deliberate 'wicked sense of humour' directed at an iconic bag:-) I first blogged about this 'Grunge Birkin' here and had mixed reactions from bag fans all over. The 'Grunge' birkin name (which I innocently gave the bag when I wrote my post) somehow got stuck as the bag's unofficial title as word gets spread around the internet. (something I must admit I am in a way proud of:-P).

Some bag lovers hated the guts of Mihara Yasuhiro while others understood his humour and sarcasm... but I just love the bag for the fun of it. Of course, knowing it's from Mihara Yasuhiro (he is often applauded for his innovative mens collections) gave me even more reason to want the bag. Hence, the 'Grunge' Birkin became a must-have in my SS2011 shopping list.

Unfortunately, Singapore's Club 21 store did not stock the colour I want, so I had to turn to my original source, Club 21 Thailand for the acquisition of the bag. Navy was my first choice of colour, but this Thailand exclusive hue sold out at the time I had wanted to buy the bag. I had no choice but to settle for another colour which turn out to be a blessing in disguise. I chose a reddish brown tone which is absolutely gorgeous and I am loving it more day after day. The textured leather used is also more polished and structured than it's distressed leather counterparts, hence holding the shape better. To sweeten the appeal, the bag gets complimenting gold tone hardware which adds a welcoming touch of luxury.
Mihara Yasuhiro's 'Grunge' Birkin is crafted with longer handles (can shoulder sling easily), comes in a handy size (about 38cm width) but most interestingly, features a unique hand cut extension (no two bags are alike) on the front and back of the bag. It is these odd extensions that gave that 'unfinished' appeal which forms the bag's personality. Love it!

I debut the bag to a flurry of staring eyes, walking down Orchard Road today... all in the name of good fun and humour:-) This bag is fast becoming my top favourite bag... a fun and unique addition to my bag collection. Well done Mihara Yasuhiro!

(More pics on my facebook fanpage. 'LIKE' my fanpage if you enjoy reading this post.)

(PS. the Mihara Yasuhiro 'Grunge' birkin also comes in a mens size (about 42cm width) that is exclusive to Club 21 Mens Singapore. Do check it out!)

Ad Campaigns And Catalogues #225

Below: Angelina Jolie is the latest celebrity to be featured in Louis Vuitton's Core Values Ad Campaign. Shot in Cambodia by Annie Leibovitz (Click on image to enlarge for better view)

Louis Vuitton Core Values Ad Campaign Starring Angelina Jolie

Louis Vuitton
unveils their latest Core Values advertising campaign, starring mega celebrity, Angelina Jolie under the watchful lens of Annie Leibovitz.

"We are honoured that Angelina Jolie agreed to participate in our Core Values campaign, whose central theme of travel as both a physical and emotional journey is one with which she can personally identify. Angelina Jolie is a global star in every sense – not only in her career as an actress, but also in her long-term commitment to international humanitarian issues." Pietro Beccari, Louis Vuitton Executive Vice President, Marketing and Communications

Angelina Jolie is a global star in every sense – not only in her career as an actress, but also in her long-term commitment to international humanitarian issues. Someone who truly inspires.

The Core Values campaign pictures Angelina Jolie sitting barefoot in a traditional wooden boat in the luxuriant, watery landscape of Siem Reap province. Next to her is a vintage Louis Vuitton Alto holdall in Monogram canvas, a bag the actress has owned and loved for many years. The tagline reads: "A single journey can change the course of a life. Cambodia, May 2011."

Having described her first encounter with Cambodia as a life-changing experience, Angelina Jolie agreed to be photographed there for Louis Vuitton.

Cambodia and Angelina Jolie shares close emotional ties. She travelled there for the first time in 2000 to film Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, and was overwhelmed by the beauty of its landscapes and the warmth and generosity of its people.

She returned to Cambodia in her role as a United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees Goodwill Ambassador, raising awareness of the dangers of landmines, and subsequently adopted her eldest son Maddox from a Cambodian orphanage. In 2005, she was awarded Cambodian citizenship by King Norodom Sihamoni for her humanitarian and conservation work in the country through the Maddox Jolie-Pitt Foundation, which she established in 2003.

Keep a look out for ad in international magazines from Mid June. Keep on the good charity work, Mrs Pitt!

My Bag Collection #62

Below: Another new bag... Another Céline before Spring Summer 2011 is over. Welcome my Céline Natural Linen And Black Calfskin Cabas

Below: Love the contrasting textures from the different materials...

Céline Spring Summer 2011 Natural Linen And Black Calfskin Cabas

Before Spring Summer 2011 is over... I thought I will unveil another of my satisfying purchase made during the current season. One of the must-haves in my wishlist ever since I first laid eyes upon it...

Yes, it's none other than Céline's Natural Linen And Black Calfskin Cabas! The contrasting textures of materials and luxurious leather-lined interior makes this a standout piece of Céline's Spring Summer 2011 range. The bag sold out in a short time at the Céline stores here in Singapore. I guess I am not the only one who loved the simplicity and rawness which epitomises Phoebe Philo's understated aesthetics.

Because of the choice of using linen as a material, I always thought this bag can work only for Spring Summer seasons. My perception was proven wrong when Kwannam from 'We Could Grow Up Together' demonstrated that the cabas can extend its appeal to Fall Winter looks too. He carried his cabas wearing a tweed jacket, jeans and stunning red leather brogues... Simply fabulous and inspiring!

Below: Kwannam from 'We Could Grow Up Together' inspired me that this bag works for winter looks too! Love how he carried his cabas with tweed jackets and red leather brogues...
Besides being timeless, the cabas' neutral design also allows for decorating with bag accessories. Love the way my Céline cabas looked with my Prada 'Edward' robot charm and Gucci Furry tail key ring. I am now keenly awaiting to get Céline's longer fox tail to make the bag even more luxurious:-)

Below: Add bag charms to further enhance the appeal of the bag... I know I absolutely love my Prada 'Edward' Robot and Gucci Fur Tail on the bag:-P

Long live Céline! This is my 3rd Céline Leather Cabas and I am still lusting more.

(Lastly, I must especially thank a particular person for the acquisition of this new bag. You know who you are! Thank you:-P)
