Cool Stuff at Restoration Hardware...
It's finally Friday & I received my Restoration Hardware catalog in the mail today....what did I see?? A chandelier in a birdcage...have you seen it yet?!? I immediately thought this type of lighting would look AMAZING in a home with high ceilings - similar to a loft. Aaaaah if only....
It was by far my favorite piece in the entire catalog....so if anyone gets to see it in person, please let me know what you think! Enjoy!

Tord Boontje's Icarus Lighting...(Via Made By Girl)
Many of you are probably familiar with Designer Tord Boontje right? If not, you can view a full range of his work here. I've always been drawn to his work because of the DETAILS and intricacy involved. He's designed some interesting and thought-provoking pendants such as the Midsummer we've all seen on many POPULAR design blogs. However, the Icarus is the one I find most appealing! You can actually purchase it via Generate.
Sure, it may NOT be everyone's taste, but I like the idea of having unique accessories in one's home. The Icarus is described like this on Tord Boontje's site:
"Through experimentation with cutting paper to create a three dimensional form for a light, we discovered a structure with overlapping feather shapes that resembled a swan's wing. We made the form a-symmetrical to emphasize this and to make it very dynamic. As the light appears as a wing circling a light, the name Icarus seemed an appropriate reference."

Does this particular lighting appeal to you? Would you hang it in your home?

My Affordable DIY Black Lamps.... (Via Made by Girl)
After writing this post, I was determined to buy the right lamps for my bedroom. Well, after deciding on a color (black) I looked all over the net and the least expensive lamp I found (that I liked) were $106 each! So, I thought why not just buy 2 aqua-colored lamps at TJ Maxx at $30 each and then buy 2 black drum shades at CSN Lighting for $26 each total, all for LESS than $125 so far! Not bad huh???
Ok, so I STILL needed BLACK lamps, so I headed to Home Depot & bought spray paint for $6.00!!

P.S. I loved TJ Maxx by the way. I can't believe i had never been there before!

Below: what the lamps looked like before, these are not my lamps, (I forgot to take pics of mine).
With all that, I TURNED the Aqua lamps into some SLEEK black ones for my bedroom! Now, as I mentioned before...I may be MOVING.... (95% sure) and the new walls will be WHITE! Big difference from what my bedroom looks like now!
(Below: and after....ta da!)
Below: this is not where the lamps will be placed, they're actually for my bedroom. Looking at then now, I think I need a more interesting finial, hmmm.

My search for Lighting ....
I'm seriously looking for either new lamps, to PAINT the ones in my bedroom you see here, or paint and add a new shade. My preference would be an all white lamp with gold ring at the bottom of the base, but I haven't decided yet.
Coming across so many amazing LAMPS all over the place probably isn't helping! However, I'm certain something will strike me! I came across some I really liked, let me know what you think. I'd love to know where you shop for lighting....
Do you have a favorite source for lamps??
