Liesl, who will be known to those of you who sew oliver+s patterns for kids, has just launched a women's pattern range with Simplicity called lisette.
There are four patterns of summer clothes, all casual and quirky with a sort of a Boden-esque, neo-preppy, bright and shiny aesthetic.

None of the patterns are high-fashion or even hugely original. The way they are styled isn't getting me all that excited, but taking a look at the line drawings shows that they seem to be really well thought out. I like the look of these pants.

Liesl's children's patterns are all tested and come with amazing instructions. That's what could hook me in. We all need basics, and to pick up a pattern and to know that the construction details will be clean and complete with lots of helpful pictures and tips is a joy. Her children's patterns were like sewing courses for me. I learned a lot and gained in confidence. I hope that her women's range will be the same.
There is a tie in with JoAnne's fabric where Liesl's fabric picks will be available for purchase beginning this March. None of it appeals to me. Although, never say never. When the sun comes out in a few months I may be in a totally different mood. In the end I hope that these patterns entice a new generation of sewists to makes clothes for themselves, not just crafts and kid's clothes.
