Old-Time Tour Pro Dragged Putter Behind Car

By John Derr
Special to ARMCHAIR GOLF

AT THE PGA CHAMPIONSHIP in Louisville, won by Jim Turnesa, the morning of the first round, I arrived at Big Springs Country Club in the car with Sam Snead. He parked in the first open parking space. As he got out he noticed the car parked beside him was the courtesy car assigned to Tommy Bolt, who arrived in the club parking lot at about the same time.

Snead said he’d have to move our car to another place, several rows over, because if Bolt lost, he would gun his speeding car when leaving the lot. Chances are he would spray gravel and rocks from the unpaved lot, on any cars parked near him, according to Snead. And he did.

At the same PGA championship at Big Springs when another one of the top players (I hesitate to name him, for I am not sure and he may still be around), I was standing in the parking lot when the caddy dropped the pro’s bag of clubs in the car trunk. The player opened the trunk, took out his putter and what looked like the belt from his trousers. He secured the belt around the putter shaft, then tied the putter, head down, on the bumper of his car and zoomed onto the street.

Sparks from the errant putter, as it bounced along, looked like a Fourth of July celebration. He raced down the road, after saying to no one in particular, “I guess that’ll take care of the little bastard.”

Sam and I were the only people within earshot, so I guess he was talking primarily to his putter, a farewell of sorts.

I wish I could positively recall the pro, but I wouldn’t want to pin it on the wrong man, though others may have done the same.

FACEHUNTER MAking faces

watch Gelo's KEEPING IT FAB FACEHUNTER EPISODE. lol lol lol

Facehunter YVAN RODIC continues his mission in invading and spreading the good news to the world. He arrived in Manila on the 28th and everyone was excited to be one of them chosen people to be captured in his G11 camera. He was funny and sincere. It was a 4-hour booksigning activity but there was no diva attitude seen or felt in him. He talked to every person who approached him while signing their FACEHUNTER BOOK. I Really regret that i dint touch his wavy brown hair. I was the most deaf person in the room and i couldn't fully understand the things he was telling me. Congrats Yvan! Happy NEW year and take care. I enjoyed your tweets !

My outfit was all set 2 days prior the facehunter booksigning event but then I bought these gray platform boots from Nicole so i have to change the whole thing and the color scheme as well. I respect shoes and it's omnipotence in terms of style that's why most of my outfit depends on my shoes. i dress from the bottom all the way to the top. and obviously i don't wear hats. The shoes are just insane. Its a bit scary honestly but its fun to look skinnier and taller. The boots are inspired by Charles Anastase and JC's Litas but Soule Phenomenon's version is made of suede and in a monochromatic grey color which makes it a tad different. Its as if the shoes were coated with a hot and gooey cement. I cant wait to get the black version as well. Bubbles Paraiso was there also and she liked it. haha

I was lucky enough to have attended the much anticipated year end event of 2010 . Everyone was excited about Yvan Rodic's tour and was so much augmented when we learned that Manila is one of his destinations. I was also lucky that I bought the book upon arriving at Fully Booked because in a matter of hour, the book was sold out plus its cheaper in FullyBooked as compared to other bookstores. Its so nice to see all those lovely and inspiring people once again. I was also shocked to learn that pretty girls who wear frilly dresses and blairbands read my trashy blog haha.

Din;t expect that Raymond Gutierrez would be there and he took photos of my talon rings! Gah i shouldav had my manicure prior lol

one day, bloggers will invade the whole wide world...and
they will save it from damnation

Thanks to STATUS Magazine for inviting us , bloggers in this event. This is but a fantastic opportunity to meet Facehunter and be inspired.
