Diving Into Digital Books: TL Virtual Cafe Webinar Coming Up!

I feel so fortunate to have had a number of amazing opportunities to reflect on this year's experiment with eReaders in my library. Perhaps the most exciting is the one that's coming up on Monday when I get to spend an hour or so chatting about the marriage of eReaders and school libraries with my friend and hero Buffy Hamilton.  Seriously, if someone had told me a year ago that I'd be sharing a stage (even a virtual one) with Buffy, I'd never have believed it.  It's truly an honor to be included in this discussion at all, nevermind with the person I constantly try to model. Plus, it's hosted by little miss Daring Librarian herself, Gwyneth Jones.  Mind blowing.

Anyway, I really hope you'll join us!

Kindles, Nooks and iPads, Oh My! Implementing eReaders into your library program is about more than just jumping on the latest technological bandwagon or attempting to reinvent your library in order to stay relevant. It’s about good practice. Join Buffy Hamilton and Jennifer LaGarde as they discuss how eReaders have helped them provide students with a) access to the most up to date titles, b) the unique ability to efficiently link works of fiction with nonfiction resources and, c) the opportunity to interact with texts in ways that are simply not possible with traditional, library owned, books – all in an environment that both appeals to and enhances their skills as 21st century learners.

All materials, including my slideshare (which I'm proud to report contains only my own images) will be archived on the wiki once the session is complete.

I am small,. I am short. I started dieting when i was 14. The age where growth spurt should be at its finest but due to my self - deprivation of carbo , my height stopped growing until 5' 4" . Thanks to clothes and shoes that give optical illusion. One way , i think, to visually extend the bottom part is to wear a crop top and a harem pants. But it aint enough. The best way is to pair the color or texture  of your shoes to yer trousers. Like leather wedges to your leather pants.  I always do that if you happen to notice? This time, i pair a striped wedge to my striped trousers. Still, I wish I could grow taller.

Legacy Scrapbooks Bus Trip in Cedarburg Wisconsin

Did you ever watch Little House on the Prairie when you were a child?  Didn't you just love how clean, simple, and quiet the "town" seemed to be?  You had very little to choose from when shopping, eating out, or even going out.  I know it was just a show on tv but looking back at that time period...life seemed easy.    Well fast forward to 2011 and now picture "The Little House" in the town of Cedarburg with a population of 13,000.

Cedarburg is 20 miles north of Milwaukee.  When driving into Cedarburg you will immedietly fall in love with the old world charm.   Historic buildings, Museums, Antique shops,  and speciality shops that line the main streets.   Cedarburg is beautiful!   Yes, there are places for shopping, eating, and plenty of area attractions but you still get that clean, simple and warm feeling.   Cedarburg is full of art, creativity, and wonderful views.  For more information or to watch a video visit this site:   Cedarburg Visitor Info

I had to introduce you to the town of Cedarburg before I told you about my favorite part of Cedarburg.  Welcome to Legacy Scrapbooks, Your Gateway to Creativity!   Legacy Scrapbooks is located in downtown Cedarburg.  This store opened in 2004 and has 4,000 sq feet of  the latest scrapbooking, stamping and paper crafting supplies.
Bustripscrap 049Colleen Eggleston is the owner of this store, she is the one in the front row with the cute white top and black sweater.  I went on their April 9th  bus trip to visit this store and 2 other scrapbook stores.  This is our group of crafty girls that were on the "Legacy"  bus.    This day trip was awesome!  I went to 3 scrapbook stores I have never been to, made projects at each location, watched 2 movies on the bus, ate all day long, and I met some wonderful ladies.   Not to mention all of the shopping too.  We started out shopping at Legacy, having breakfast and then we headed out to the next 2 locations.   I will tell you more about the actual bus trip as I introduce the other 2 stores next week.

First I want to share with you my favorite part of Legacy Scrapbooks.  Have you ever needed just one more green button or one more pink heart brad but didn't want to buy a whole package?  Look at this great display!  It reminded me of the penny candy jars from Little House on the Prairie. Bustripscrap 040
Legacy calls this there "Brad Buffet".  Jars full of buttons, brads, charms, ribbon, flowers, eyelets,  gem stones, and sparklers.  The items in the jars are priced between $.05 to $.50 .   What a great idea!  Legacy is full of creative displays and a great selection of products.  They also have more pictures on the  Legacy Scrapbooks Store Website  You can also check out the  Legacy Scrapbooks Blog
Bustripscrap 054We made 7 projects between the 3 stores.  This is a photo of the items we made along with the FREE items we received from the bus chaperone's from Legacy and other freebies came from purchases made at the stores.
Who knew a bus trip could be so fun?  Candy, soda, brownies, chips,  stickers, punches, paper, and a movie.  This was one bus trip where you did not want to take a nap!   Once we got back to Legacy Scrapbooks  there was more food waiting for us and that's when we took the group photo.  It was a long day but well worth the trip.  I couldn't wait to get home to unpack my bags of new product and goodies.  If you have not been on a Scrapbook Bus Trip, you'll need to add it to your bucket list.

Were you on this bus trip?  If you were please leave me a comment letting us know what you liked best about Legacy or the bus trip.  I will be drawing a name from the comments left on this page.  Colleen the owner from Legacy Scrapbooks will be giving that person a prize from her store.  If you were not of this bus trip but would like to attend the next one, be-sure to check out their website for upcoming events.  Colleen is planning to have another bus trip this fall.  You can also check out our Wisconsin Event page for a few of the Legacy Scrapbooks events coming up next month.  Legacy has plenty of  classes, crops, parties, and events to choose from.

Remember to leave a comment if you were on this bus trip, I will draw a name on May 14th and Colleen will contact the winner & let you know what you won!  You can also become a follower on   Legacy Scrapbooks Blog so you can keep up with store events and new products.
Even if you were not of this bus trip let us know if you would like to attend one or maybe you went on a bus trip similar to this one.. please leave a comment letting us know your experience.

I truly hope you get a chance to visit Cedarburg and Legacy Scrapbooks it is a Beautiful place.

*PLEASE NOTE* this article was taken from the PaperCrafters Corner Wisconsin Site please direct your comments regarding the bus trip on that site. Thank You, Kimberly Scrap It Girl

Cool Felt by Crafts 2 Cherish...(Via Made By Girl)

How is everyone today? Did you get to see the Royal Wedding?

I'm so relieved it's Friday..... With all the HYPE regarding the ROYAL Wedding, I ended up falling asleep & not watching it. Then again, who wants to stay up till 3am to see Will & Kate get married!?! Ok, I admit I did....but at 3am?!? No wonder I fell asleep.

I SWEAR the BRIDE would be wearing a super tall hat of some sort in the shape of a crown maybe??  Or was she ACTUALLY supposed to wear the crown??

Anyhow, I pictured something different, hence why I'm featuring this company called Crafts 2 Cherish. I was so INSPIRED by those amazing headpieces at the wedding..they were so amazing! I figured a average girls like us could rock something similar without the HEFTY price tag right? Crafts 2 Cherish is based out of Ireland & the artist makes these hand felted pieces for the hair and more! These were my favorites if course....

Check out the shop here for more!

8,300 Golfers from 67 Countries Enter 2011 U.S. Open

THE USGA REPORTED TODAY that 8,300 golfers have submitted entries for the 2011 U.S. Open Championship, which is returning to Congressional Country Club near Washington, D.C., where Ernie Els won the second of his two U.S. Open titles in 1997. The year’s second major will be played June 16-19.

All entrants are professionals or amateurs with a USGA Handicap Index no higher than 1.4. Sixty-five are fully exempt, including nine past champions: Graeme McDowell (2010), Angel Cabrera (2007), Michael Campbell (2005), Ernie Els (1994, 1997), Jim Furyk (2003), Lucas Glover (2009), Retief Goosen (2001, 2004), Geoff Ogilvy (2006) and Tiger Woods (2000, 2002, 2008).

Entries poured in from all 50 states, the District of Columbia and 66 other countries. More than 700 applicants listed foreign addresses. The USGA accepted online entries for the first time. Amateur Herbie Aikens submitted the first entry on March 2. Hawaiian Kevin Hayashi barely beat the 5 p.m. EDT deadline, transmitting his entry with only 15 seconds to spare.

An 18-hole local qualifier will take place at 111 sites on May 6-19. A 36-hole sectional qualifier will follow at two international sites (May 23 in Japan and May 30 in England) and 11 U.S. sites on June 6.

The number of exemptions has increased. It includes the top 50 players from the Official World Golf Ranking, the top 10 money leaders on the 2011 PGA Tour and the top five money leaders on the 2011 European PGA Tour. (The cutoff date is May 23.) Other exemptions include the winner of the 2011 Players Championship and any multiple winner of official PGA Tour co-sponsored events between June 20, 2010, and June 12, 2011.

There will only be one winner. Any early predictions?

Kate Middleton waves as she arrives with her father Michael Middleton and her sister Philippa Middleton to the West Door of Westminster Abbey in London for her wedding to Britain's Prince William, on April 29, 2011.

Who could argue with this?  So pretty.  It has an old fashioned, restrained, 1950s feel to me.  I hope it starts a trend away from trashy, too tight, too low, too much diamonte wedding dresses that seem to have been around for a while.

But, more to my mind, is lace!  I love the delicate lace on her arms and shoulders.  Ever since seeing Gertie's red chantilly dress, I have been thinking I would like a black lace cocktail dress.  Now, of course, I really want one.  But, on the other hand, I don't like to be obvious and to seem like I am referencing a royal wedding in a heavy handed way.  So, we'll have to see.  It's three hours to our street party and bbq.  Have fun guys!

their PFW invite is as transformational and unique like their pieces

Apart from being so excited to see the collection of my fave local designers during Philippine Fashion Week , i am undeniably intrigued and giddy of what Oxygen has in store for the show.  I could say that this is my H&M ...One parameter that accurately confirms that you love the brand and the brand  is for you  is that when you step in and you just cannot count how many pieces you are interested to buy. As for the show, I would like to thank Miss Erika Bugia of OXYGEN for saving me a seat for the show! and can i just say that im really excited to see the Misshapes most especially Leigh!

FaDAL at play

another fantastiq film by Matthew Valeriano.. Last night was FaDAL Manila's kick off VIP Party held at 7th High in Boni High Street. Everyone was giggling, drinking and dancing and then suddenly the screen played the film and everyone was cheering.  I reckon that Matthew really gave everything just for this film to happen. Remember the popular stop-motion animated series  Gumby? This one's undeniably better! haha..I couldnt be more overwhelmed with the support you guys are giving for FaDAL Manila and for  Paradigm Shift . I LOVE U! and yes, at least i look taller than Mike in the video presentation.
