Dancing with the Stars, Season 10 Kicks off Heartfelt Performances

Last night’s, Season 10 of Dancing with the Stars not only premiered, it very much delivered! Contrary to past seasons, this year started on a very high note with many performances proving stellar results.

There were the performances that delivered and received great scores, but there were also the performances that created an even bigger impact- the ones in our hearts.

Beginning with Shannen Doherty; the villain of 90210 and all around bad girl shockingly proclaimed that she had terrible stage fright in front of a live audience. Because of this we were all lead to believe that her first performance might very well be her last. But the “villain” did it again and with 18 points wowed the audience instead with her elegant performance of the Viennese Waltz and tear-jerker moment of her dad watching her by the sidelines.

Another heartfelt performance came from Buzz Aldrin- the first man to walk on the moon- when at 80 years of age proved that age is just another number. His Viennese Waltz may have earned him the lowest score of the night with only 14 points, but to this reader, he scored the highest on most ambitious.

By far, the star that stood out the most however, was Niecy Nash- star of Reno 911, host and producer of Clean House and celebrity panelist on the entertainment news program “The Insider” among other shows. Niecy’s sassy personality and colorful humor put her on center stage for most likeable. During her interview she made a great comment that was never before heard by contestants; she vowed to not lose weight because she is very fond of her curves! She went on to say she was “doing (the show) for the thick girls who can dance in front of the line in dance class, not just the back!” Thus, not only did she do a great job as her first dance of the season with 18 points, but she also sends a great message to women everywhere to love your body no matter what size or shape.

With stars and performances as these, Season 10 may just be the best we’ve ever seen. Tune in next Tuesday, 3/30, to see who will be the first to be eliminated. Who do you think it will be? Post your comments today.
