Xernan Orticio may be young but his slightly controversial (thorn crowns , Jesus, hello? ) holiday 2011 collection wowed a lot of guests during the show. It was clean plus there was a sudden shift in length in the pieces since from what I've observed , Xernan is known for his body con mini dresses in his previous collection. The inspiration behind his collection is the byzantine architecture and the church. According to the designer himself , he used the technique of precise fabric cutting in razor sharp details and soft layering. Adding to the clerical/church reference are floor length sheer maxi skirts extended on hem of the garments that gives a little flash of skin. The strong silhouettes and smart geometric details during the beginning were complimented with minimal and flowy long skirts in panels of bone , ivory , egg and white palettes . Nothing can beat an all white collection all the more if its paired with subtle hardware accessories and details. I think, for a whole collection to work , there must be a sense of identity and yet he offered more than an identity - but a religion...Quite an interesting religion
