Maryland Chesapeake Bay Bridge Opens, Connecting The East And West


With Hurricane Irene, taking to the beach, in Maryland, officials ordered thousands of residents and visitors to go in Ocean City, while the Governor Martin O'Malley, has warned of the dangers of the storm "monster".

O'Malley said the state of emergency on Thursday. He warned residents to prepare the state for what he called a great and murderous "slow hurricane bearing down on the state of Maryland."

The governor said the epicenter Irene is expected to arrive off the coast of Ocean City, with the eye wall, perhaps even the community beach at 2:00 on Sunday.

Ocean City Mayor Rick Meehan said Thursday that there were probably about 125,000 to 150,000 people in Ocean City. The city has about 7000 inhabitants.

Meehan said the last time in Ocean City evacuation was ordered in 1985, Hurricane Gloria.
